New Retro Style: Men's Vintage Mountaineering Boots
Today's modern boots for actual hiking use synthetic materials that are lighter, and more resistant to weather and damage that you might encounter while traversing difficult terrain. But the old school alpine-style mountaineering boots in this list still have a place in your wardrobe. The selections in this list bring some much needed charm and style to your fall and winter look.
Typically, this style of boot will have a padder upper that's great for warmth in cooler temperatures and a lug sole for extra security on wet and icy surfaces. The metal eyelets are also a signature of the style. Although these might seem like a purely aesthetic flourish, it gives mountaineering style boots a big functional and practical advantage over other styles: they're much easier to put on and take off that other kinds of boots.
For me, I love to get in and out of the house as fast as possible. So as the temperatures start to drop, I end up sticking to sneakers for as long as I can, just to avoid the inconvenience of boots. It takes a few weeks of me suffering with cold, wet feet before I finally give in. I'm a huge fan of metal eyelets on boots because it eliminates that problem. Undoing laces is fast because there's very little friction on the lace.
Up until recently, only modern hiking style boots had metal eyelets. Now with the new retro mountaineering boot trend, we have a more stylish and functional option.
